Gender based pay gap is a topic of debate in all fields of work. In Bollywood, where male superstars get paid around half the budget of a project and their female counterparts get only a fraction of it, pay disparity is a big issue. Many celebs have shared their views on the topic in the past and recently, actress Kirti Kulhari also shared her two cents on the topic.
Kirti's statement was slightly different and more rational than others. She believes that people are paid according to their bankability and star power. She gave example of herself getting paid more than her male co-stars while playing the lead in a project.
Kirti said, "In my opinion, as I understand, the projects that I am a part of and the projects that I am leading; I think I am paid more than my male counterparts. For sure." She continued, "I do not know the numbers, but (this is) the general idea that I have. Shows that I am leading, I am surely getting paid either the most or at least more than my male counterparts.”
Kirti is known for her performances in projects like 'Criminal Justice', 'Uri: The Surgical Strike', 'Shaadisthan' and others.
