'Kingfisher' derby race is very popular in Karnataka. In comes a film in Kannada titled as 'Kingfisher'. There is race too in the film among the six youths. 'Never Miss the Hunt' says the catch line. Each one is vying to finish a target. For this they are waiting for the time to come in the 16 reels film directed by S.S.David who is known for punchy dialogues for action films in Kannada cinema.

The beauty of 'Kingfisher' (this is a bird too) muhuruth was the 16 pages invitation made by creative designer Sana. This is the first filmy assignment of this youngster who is a fashion photographer in Bangalore. He has worked for 15 days on the invitation card that is of the size of a newspaper tucked in thick black glazed sheets. Each invitation cost producer Haroon H.S Rs.440. Producer Haroon is contemplating to dub this film with some minor changes in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages. He has full confidence that David would do a good job. This is my small contribution to Kannada cinema says Haroon who is basically a land developer.

The audience would get the unexpected on the screen. Like how the kingfisher is the hunting bird the key roles in the film are having similar nature says David. I cannot take up this type of venture with established artistes. When the characters are now known faces then only I can baffle the audience informed David. Four months of exhaustive training has been given to all the newcomers in the film by director David.

Naveen, Praveen, Karan, Arun, Vijju, Babloo, Ananthavelu, Satyajith, Arun Sagar, Nagashekar, Ramesh Pandit are in the key roles. A.C.Mahender is the cameraman and Mahesh scores the music for the out and out commercial action extravaganza.
