Actor Nagarjuna Akkineni has issued a public apology after a video surfaced showing his bodyguards pushing a fan away during a busy airport encounter. The incident, which went viral on social media, sparked widespread criticism, with many questioning Nagarjuna's lack of response at the time.
The video, shared by Bollywood Pap, shows the actor walking through the airport with his bodyguards, when a fan approaches him. However, one of the bodyguards aggressively shoves the fan away, causing him to stumble. Nagarjuna continues walking without acknowledging the incident.
The video sparked a wave of outrage on social media, with many users condemning the actor's bodyguards' actions and criticizing Nagarjuna's apparent indifference. "It's disheartening," wrote one user. "They are not Gods, they are because of the public," added another.
In response to the mounting criticism, Nagarjuna took to X (formerly Twitter) to address the incident. Sharing the viral video, he wrote, "This just came to my notice… this shouldn’t have happened!! I apologize to the gentleman and will take necessary precautions that it will not happen in the future!!"
Nagarjuna boasts a massive fan following across South India, particularly in the Telugu states. He has earned critical acclaim for his roles in films such as Gitanjali, Ninne Pelladatha (which won a National Film Award), and Annamayya (which received a Special Mention National Film Award for his acting). His decades-long career has produced numerous blockbusters including Killer, President Gari Pellam, and Varasudu, cementing his status as a South Indian cinema icon.
Despite his success and popularity, the recent incident has raised concerns about the behavior of celebrity entourages and the need for greater sensitivity toward fans. It remains to be seen how Nagarjuna's apology will be received by his fans and if he will take concrete steps to ensure such incidents are prevented in the future.
