The day has finally come. The World Cup has finally begun with the first match between England and South Africa. Before the start of the tournament, the team captains made a visit to the Buckingham Palace where they met Queen Elizabeth and Prince Harry. In the annual garden party that ensued on Wednesday, the captains exchanged words with the royal family.
The picture which has garnered the most attention, however, is one of the Indian captain addressed by fans as King Kohli, and the Queen herself. Twitterati has begun to comment on this saying “King meets Queen.” Another innovative catchphrase is doing the rounds. Fans have begun to laud the real Kohinoor or the ‘Kohlinoor’ which England will never get.
Another occasion for fans to celebrate is the wax statue of the precious cricketer which was unveiled at the Lord’s Cricket Ground. The statue dressed in attire given by Kohli himself will be on display at Madame Tussauds till July 15th. The General Manager at the museum Steve Davies said: “We hope that cricket fans will enjoy not only watching their hero on the pitch but taking to the crease with him here at Madame Tussauds London.” Who would give up the chance for a photo with the King himself?
