In an apparent effort to reduce the unprecedented and alarming levels of smoke pollution in the national capital region i.e. Delhi, New Delhi and surrounding localities, Delhi’s ‘son of the soil’ and living cricketing legend Virat Kohli has appealed to Delhiites to avoid using private transport and instead opt for public transport such as Metro Rail, etc.
The situation became so bad in recent times, forcing the Govt. of the NCT of Delhi to close down all schools and colleges for a week. The Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi Govt. has been taking all possible steps to reduce pollution levels. Pollution has also affected the routine lives of millions of people. Smoke emitted by vehicles has been found as the major detriment in arresting increasing pollution levels.
Govt. has advised people to avoid their own transport to commute and instead use public transport system in the form of Metro Rail, etc. India’s cricket captain Kohli, one of the most eligible bachelors in the country, has released a video on his Twitter account appealing to people in this regard.
“We are all aware of the present scenario in Delhi. We have to win the battle for which we have to play (work) in a united manner. It is our duty to contribute whatever we can in reducing pollution. I appeal to you all to commute to office and other places using public transport system including Metro Rail, Buses, Ola cab/auto, share-autos, etc. Let’s do it at least once in a week. Even small efforts give big results,” he said.
