'Kidaari' and 'KuttrameThandanai'- Box-office Collection details

In this long Vinyakar Chathurthi weekend. The box office had two major Tamil films hitting the screens amid a good deal of expectations. Both the films have lived up to the expectations in their own might, a fact revealed by the good opening weekend collection figures.
Actor-producer Sasikumar's 'Kidaari' directed by debutant Prasath Murugesan had opened big last Friday (September 2). In the first three days the film has got 223 shows in 19 screens across Chennai. With a good 75% occupancy the Nikhila Vimal starrer has collected Rs.74,86,990 lakhs in Chennai itself.
The other notable Tamil release is 'Kuttrame Thanadanai' the second film directed by Manikandan of 'Kaaka Muttai' fame. The film had good pre-release buzz due to the 'Kaaka Muttai' factor, the cast and crew members that includes Isaignani Ilaiyaraja, Vidharth, Aiswharya Rajesh, Pooja Devarya and many others and also the brilliant trailer that was released a few months ago.
The film was released in 18 screens across Chennai and it got a total of 151 shows in the first three days of release. With this the film made on a shoe-string budget has collected Rs.25,70,660 with a decent 75% theater occupancy.
As far as Chennai is concerned both 'Kidaari' and 'Kuttrame Thandanai' have done well in the first three days of release. But the complete opening figures will be known only tomorrow as today is Vinayakar Chathurthi holiday and will be considered as part of opening weekend.
