The other day, a video clip in which a 5-year-old girl is seen writhing in pain in scorching Summer heat went viral. In the video, the unnamed girl is seen with her legs and hands tied. Apparently, her mother had done it. While nothing justifies such kind of harsh punishment, the mother has since told the police that she punished her child for not doing school homework.

The video pertains to a locality in Delhi. The Delhi police have initiated action. "After a video of a girl child tied up on the roof of a house surfaced on social media, all possible efforts were made by Delhi Police to ascertain her identity and circumstances. The family of the child has been identified and appropriate action initiated," the police have tweeted.

The incident has been condemned by Netizens. "Upset to see the video of child tied on roof. In the name of discipline, people treat their kids like this, and this kind of treatment results in juveniles killing the parent for a mere game. Don't question the generation when you cant treat them better," wrote Twitter user Gulshan Singh.
