Ever since BJP leader Amit Shah had announced that Hindi will be the language that will unite the nation, there has been criticism against his statement from non Hindi speaking states, and Tamil Nadu has been no exception. Earlier today, Gayathri Raghuram who supports BJP had supported his views.

Gayathri Raghuram had made a series of tweets supporting learning Hindi to unite the nation. She had tweeted "Now learning Hindi is tough task for me. But let kids decide what is best for them. Wether national language or not, one knowing Hindi or English is just going to help us communicate. Let not the previous generations be a speed breaker or decide for kids to learn Hindi or English".

Contrasting to Gayathri's view, actress Kushboo had tweeted I speak the language I heard when I was in my mother’s womb.I speak the language my mother taught me but I CHOOSE to speak the language that gave me my family,love,respect n fortune.I CHOSE to learn the language I wanted my children to speak.Language should be a choice,not forced". Gayathri and Kushb are well known for indulging in Twitter wars.
