On Sunday, Doctor Simon Hercules who heads New Life hope hospital in Chennai had passed away due to cardiac arrest, after he had been diagnosed with Coronavirus infection. On Monday, there had been a huge issue over his burial.

When doctors, medical officers had arrived to bury his body, residents of Anna Nagar had attacked them and pelted stones, not allowing them to bury Simon's body there. This inhuman act of people has been condemned by many, and now it has been announced that people who are creating issues in burial will be arrested under Goondas act.

Expressing her anger over the incident, actress and politician Khushbu tweeted "What are we making of ourselves? A man who gave up his life to save many of our fellow beings,was denied a respectful farewell by a bunch of illiterates or goons or hooligans,call whatever you want to..We must be ashamed of ourselves that we still live in this kind of society."
