Veteran actress Khusbhu ruled the South Indian film industry during the late 80s and 90s. She was so much adored by fans that they built a temple for her in Trichy. The biggest hit in not only Khusbhu's career but in Tamil cinema history at that time was 'Chinnathambi' released on April 12th 1991.
On the 32nd anniversary of 'Chinnathambi', Khusbhu shared the poster of the film and selfie with director P. Vasu and Prabhu who play the male lead. She got emotional and wrote "Just can't believe it's been 32 yrs since #ChinnaThambi took tamil cinema by storm. Will always be indebted for the love showered upon me. My heart will always beat for #PVasu Sir & #Prabhu Sir. Forever grateful to #Illaiyaraja Sir for his soul stirring music n Late #KBalu for bank rolling it. #Nandini is eternally etched in the hearts & minds of everyone. Thank you once again.".
'Chinnathambi' which broke all the previous records in Tamil cinema was remade in most Indian languages and tasted the same success. Apart from Prabhu and Khushbu the film had memorable performances by Goundamani, Radha Ravi and Manorama. All the songs tuned by Ilayaraja and written by Vaali, Gangai Ameran and Ilayaraja were superhits and are still favorites of even the current generation.
