His first project was one of the most talked about but met with a poor response at the box office. Not many film makers would have fathomed that a film starring the then real-life 'jodi' of Aishwarya Rai and Vivek Oberoi could fare so miserably at the box office. But then debutant director Samir Karnik didn't let the debacle of 'Kyun Ho Gayan Naa' effect him for a long time and looked the other way to make a film called 'Nane Jaisalmer'.

So how come a name like this? As per Karnik, the film is centered on this kid who calls himself as Nanhe Jaisalmer and keeps telling everybody that he and his camel are the best in Jaisalmer.

The film stars Bobby Deol in the lead who plays himself (i.e. an actor) while Katrina Kaif too has a short role in the film. Vatsal Seth, who didn't have a great beginning to his career with 'Taarzan - The Wonder Car' has an important role in the film too while a 10 year old kid named Dwijyadev plays the title role of 'Nanhe Jaisalmer'.
