R Narayana Murthy has lamented the lack of availability of even a single theatre for the release of his movie 'Head Constable Venkatramayya', scheduled to be released during the Sankranthi holiday season. As 'Khaidi No. 150' and 'Gautamiputra Satakarni' are set to have biggest releases, small films have no space this season.

"Megastar and Yuva Ratna are great stars; I am no one in comparison. But when I came to know that it has been very difficult to find theatres to release our movie, I wanted to cry. The way a few people are dominating the scene is outrageous. Through the lease system, they are blocking theatres. This is undemocratic. Everybody has a right to release his movie appropriately. I urge the Government, the Film Chamber and the Producers' Council to do the needful to make the situation friendly," Narayana Murthy said emotionally today in Hyderabad.

"We don't want 1000 or 2000 theatres. But don't we deserve at least one theatre in each village? If all of the theatres play only two movies this Sankranthi, where are we expected to go? This will stifle the film industry," he said.

In his style, Murthy emotionally asked if small films can be released only when there are no festivals and no big films hitting the screens.
