Mani Ratnam's dream project 'Ponniyin Selvan 2' is releasing tomorrow worldwide. Trade pundits expect it to cross the collections of the first part and create a new record in Tamil cinema history. The principal cast of the A.R. Rahman musical comprises of Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha and Aishwarya Lekshmi.
Meanwhile it has already been announced that Mani Ratnam will be reuniting with Kamal Haasan after 36 years for 'KH 234' jointly produced by Red Giant Movies, Raaj Kamal Films International and Madras Talkies. The film is expected to go on floors only later this year as Kamal has to complete Shankar's 'Indian 2' and if all goes well 'KH 233' directed by H. Vinoth.
There was a strong buzz that Nayanthara has been approached to play the female lead in 'KH 234' after initial reports of Trisha Krishnan also floated. Now the latest on this end is that Raaj Kamal Films International has signed Nayanthara for the Pradeep Ranganathan-Vignesh Shivan project and not for 'KH 234'. It is also said that Mani Ratnam is writing another script for a future movie for which he and his team feel that Nayanthara would be apt for the main lead.
Unconfirmed sources now say that there is a high likelihood of Bollywood actress Vidya Balan coming on board 'KH 234' as the main female lead while Andrea Jeremaiah is also being considered for an important character. We will have to wait for the official confirmation on these reports since the project is at a very nascent stage.
