'KGF: Chapter 2' might not have been a success in Bollywood, says Karan Johar

In recent times, South Indian blockbusters have seen an exponential rise in terms of popularity and box office collection and unfortunately, Bollywood is lagging far behind. Kannada film 'KGF: Chapter 2' was one of the most anticipated films of this year and unsurprisingly, it managed to become one of the highest grossing Indian movies of 2022.
In a recent media interaction, Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar also praised it but stated that a film like 'KGF: Chapter 2' might mot succeed in Bollywood. He told Film Companion, “When I read the reviews of KGF, I’m like if we made this, we would be lynched. But here, everybody is like ‘Oh it was a celebration, a party’ and it was. I loved it. I loved it with all my heart. But I feel hum yeh banaate to?
Stating how audience are way more critical towards Bollywood films in comparison to South Indian ones, Karan stated, It’s working both ways. I feel we are also not given any kind of leeway and then we are trying to be somebody else. So, we are all over the place. We are living a dual existence and we have to stop.
