In recent times, South Indian blockbusters have seen an exponential rise in terms of popularity and box office collection and unfortunately, Bollywood is lagging far behind. Kannada film 'KGF: Chapter 2' was one of the most anticipated films of this year and unsurprisingly, it managed to become one of the highest grossing Indian movies of 2022.

In a recent media interaction, Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar also praised it but stated that a film like 'KGF: Chapter 2' might mot succeed in Bollywood. He told Film Companion, “When I read the reviews of KGF, I’m like if we made this, we would be lynched. But here, everybody is like ‘Oh it was a celebration, a party’ and it was. I loved it. I loved it with all my heart. But I feel hum yeh banaate to?"

Stating how audience are way more critical towards Bollywood films in comparison to South Indian ones, Karan stated, "It’s working both ways. I feel we are also not given any kind of leeway and then we are trying to be somebody else. So, we are all over the place. We are living a dual existence and we have to stop."
