Kfi attend rally in Hubballi

The Kalasa Banduri Mahadayi water sharing controversy between Karnataka and Goa has received a major protest rally on Sunday in Hubbali. The Kannada film industry took part in the massive rally that reminded the Gokak Chaluvali of 1982.

The Kalasa-Banduri Project, proposed by the Karnataka government, aims to divert the water from Kalasa nala' (Canal) and Banduri nala' in Mahadayi basin to the Malaprabha River for meeting the drinking water requirement of Hubli-Dharwad. The Mahadayi Water Dispute Tribunal has rejected Goa government plea to stop work on the Kalasa-Banduri Project. It has ordered Karnataka to plug the vents so as to avoid the automatic flow of flood water from Mahadayi to Malaprabha, thus satisfying both parties.

On Sunday morning the rally began with a Pooja at 10 am at Moorusavira Mata playground, Dajibana Pete, Victoria Road, Koppikar Road, Lamington Road it reached Sangolli Rayanna and Kittur Chennamma statue. The garland was made for the statues. Later at Chennamma ground massive rally assembled. The Mahadayi water project Satyagrahama of farmers in Nargund has entered 60th day on Sunday.
