Comedian Kevin Hart has taken legal action against former assistant Miesha Shakes and YouTuber Tasha K, whose real name is Latasha Kebe, along with Kebe Studios LLC. This lawsuit follows a recent interview in which Shakes made allegations against Hart, claiming he had cheated on his wife, fathered a child outside the marriage, and had gambling issues.
The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, accuses Shakes and Kebe of defamation, civil extortion, breach of contract, and invasion of privacy. Hart's legal team claims that Shakes violated a 2022 non-disclosure agreement (NDA) by disclosing confidential information in the interview conducted by Kebe.
The NDA prohibited Shakes from revealing any confidential information to anyone or through any media platforms. Despite this, Shakes participated in the interview, justifying her actions by claiming loopholes in the agreement.
Allegedly, someone linked to Kebe demanded $250,000 from Hart to prevent the interview's publication, which was refused. Despite receiving a cease-and-desist letter, Kebe still published the interview on her subscription-based website on December 22.
Hart seeks general and compensatory damages, in addition to legal fees, through the lawsuit. Representatives for Hart, Kebe, and Kebe Studios have not yet responded to requests for comment.
This isn't Kebe's first legal tussle over her interviews. She previously faced a defamation lawsuit from Cardi B, resulting in a $4.25 million judgment against her. Despite these challenges, Kebe continued interviewing individuals, recently facing potential legal action from Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith following claims made in her interviews.
