Here's a piece of good news for the tipplers in Kerala. After a long wait, Google Play Store has approved the BevQ app developed by Kerala’s Beverages Corporation (BEVCO) to distribute the liquor in the state. Developed by a Kochi-based startup called Faircode Technologies Private Limited, the Bev Q app will introduce a virtual queue system for the sale of liquor in the state, so as to reduce the overcrowding of people at the liquor shops.
Ever since the announcement of the name of the app on May 20, the Play Store was swarmed by Keralites searching for the app. But the app failed Google's security screening several times leading to the delay of the approval. Well, the news of BEVQ app's approval by Google has come as a relief for all the Kerala boozers, as the Government had announced that the liquor shops will be opened only after the app was launched. The app is expected to hit Google Play Store any time now.
Through the app, that has a GPS facility, the customer can locate the nearest liquor outlets and a token can be booked. The tokens will be provided on a first-come-first-serve basis. On the token number they would get a position in the physical queue outside the respective Bevco outlet and the customer can purchase liquor within the time frame mentioned on the token. The spot in the virtual queue can be booked using the name, phone number, and place.
