In a shocking incident, a young COVID-19 patient from Kerala was raped by an 108 ambulance service driver. The driver has been arrested following a complaint raised by the patient, who was on her way to the hospital in Kerala's Pathanamthitta.

Reportedly, the incident happened on Saturday night. The ambulance was carrying two patients - an elderly woman and the 19-year-old rape survivor - to different hospitals. After intentionally dropping the elderly, the ambulance driver diverted to an empty ground and raped the 19 year old young girl, the complaint stated according to the police.

A probe in the matter is underway. Meanwhile, the 25-year old ambulance driver named Noufal has been removed from his service. The Health Minister K K Shailaja has announced that strict action will be taken against the accused.
