Woman gives birth to baby soon after returning to hometown

A Malayali nurse named Sonia Jacob who returned to Kerala from the Maldives gave birth to a baby boy on Sunday. The woman reached Kochi via Navy warship INS Jalashwa, which brought back 698 Indians stranded in the island nation.

Soon after Sonia reached the Kochi seaport, she complained uneasiness. She was immediately rushed to the hospital for women and children at Mattanchery before being shifted to the Kinder Hospital at Kalamassery for a C-section. Reportedly, Sonia had miscarriages six times in the past.

Apart from Sonia, there were 19 other pregnant women who were brought back to Kerala on the ship.
