On Friday, Kerala Police DGP informed the state Government that liquor can be sold online in Kerala. Reportedly, the DGP has handed over a letter to the government regarding this. Reportedly, the government is exploring this possibility, a proposal originally raised by Bevco and rejected by the government two years ago.
After the neighbouring states of Kerala witnessed a huge rush in front of liquor shops once the shops were reopened, the government had devised a detailed plan from the police for ensuring that the people adhere to strict safety measures. It is learned that the decision regarding the reopening of beverage outlets will be taken only on the basis of a detailed report from the police, who will make necessary arrangements to avoid crowding and ensuring safety in front of the beverage outlets.
Meanwhile, the finance and taxes departments, the state beverages corporation and Consumerfed are busy completing formalities relating to the opening of liquor outlets.
