Kerala records highest single-day spike of 2333 COVID-19 cases

On Wednesday, Kerala reported the highest ever single day spike of 2333 Covid-19 cases. This is the highest ever single-day spike in Kerala crossing the 2000 mark. The alarming fact is that among the new cases, 2151 persons developed the disease through contact. Of which, the source of infection for 53 cases is not known.

While 60 persons came from abroad, while 98 persons returned from other states. 17 health workers also tested positive for the virus. The most number of cases were reported from Thiruvananthapuram with 540 and Malappuram with 322. 1,217 recoveries and 7 deaths were also confirmed on Wednesday. With this, the death toll has risen to 182 in the state.

On Wednesday, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases from the state also breached 50,000-mark and now stands at 50231. There are 17,382 active coronavirus cases now while 32,611 have recovered.
