The Kerala police have registered a case against Megastar Mammootty for allegedly violating Covid-19 health protocol during the inauguration of a medical facility at a hospital in Kozhikode. Actor, director, Ramesh Pisharody, and 300 others who were also with Mammootty were also charged by the state police. Top officials of the Hospital including its Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer were also charged by the police. The case was booked under sections 4, 5, and 6 of the Kerala Epidemic Diseases Act, 2021.
The incident took place on August 3, when Mammooty and Pisharody came to the hospital for the inauguration of robotic-assisted joint replacement surgery. On Saturday, the Police booked a case after videos and photographs of the event surfaced on social media. The police said the participants at the function did not care to abide by physical distancing norms. The hospital authorities said that all protocol was followed within the hospital but it was the presence of celebs that evoked an unexpected crowd.
