It is now the season of Malayalam movie directors making the transition to Kollywood.

The likes of Lal Jose, Vinayan, Renjith and Shaji Kailas, among others, are directing movies in Tamil. Jose is directing 'Mazhai Varappogirathu' with newcomers playing the lead roles and the film is about the travails that arise because of water scarcity.

'Director Vinayan is currently directing 'Naalai Namathey' featuring new faces in the lead roles', sources close to the director said.

Director Renjith is all set to launch a Tamil film featuring Prithiviraj and Karthika. Meanwhile, director Shaji Kailas has almost finished the Tamil remake of the Malayalam murder mystery 'Chintamani Kola Case' titled 'Ellammey Avan Seyal' in Tamil.

Director Siddhique had made 'Sadhu Miranda' and is tipped to direct Vijay's next film.

Many observers feel that the Tamil film industry is opening its gates to new and fresh talent. The success of off-beat movies like 'Chennai 600028' and 'Subramaniapuram' has emboldened the Malayalam film makers to try their luck here.
