A woman in Kerala’s Ernakulam died after accidentally running into the glass door of a bank thinking it was open. The CCTV footage of the incident is being circulated online.
The woman, identified as Beena Paul, had visited a bank in Perumbavoor in Ernakulam and while she was in a hurry to get a forgotten item from the car, she accidentally ran into the glass door of a bank, not realizing that it was closed. “The glass door broke into pieces after her head banged against the door. She had not realised that the door was closed. In the visuals, the woman appears to lose balance and sits on the floor. She managed to get up, holding her stomach in pain. A glass piece allegedly pierced into her abdomen, causing severe injuries, including internal injuries,” a police officer in Perumbavoor reportedly stated. The visuals show people rushing around her while she stumbles her way to a chair and sits down. People then carry her out, covering her using a piece of cloth. According to the police, “There were three women bank employees at the bank when the incident took place. They initially did not realise what had happened. Once they did, they rushed Ms Paul to the nearest government hospital.”
The woman’s body has been sent to a nearby hospital for a post-mortem.
