A Kerala couple named Rishi Karthikeyan and Lakshmi who got married on September 16, has been trolled and abused online after pictures from their intimate post-wedding photoshoot went viral.
In the pictures, the newlyweds are seen draped in white sheets and striking romantic poses in the tea plantations of Vagamon in Kerala, where the couple celebrated their honeymoon last week.
Well, the pictures irked a major section of netizens who went on to slam the couple for doing a 'vulgar' and 'indecent' photoshoot.
Responding to trolls in an interview with TNM, the couple revealed that they wanted to try something new unlike the usual traditional wedding photoshoots. The couple said that they did expect negative comments but were overwhelmed with abuses that poured in for the pictures. Lakshmi said that she was slut-shammed online and her parents were also abused.
"Both of us were very much clothed throughout the shoot. It is impossible to not be clothed as we were shooting outdoors, in a rather public place in Vagamon. That the photographer was able to capture aesthetic shots of us, is purely his creativity and camera skills. However, most users, especially on Facebook, began moral policing me and my wife over the nature of the pictures," Rishi told TNM.
"I am somebody who wears off shoulder clothes and shorts. Showing my neck or legs does not qualify as nudity. But I was hit with a storm of horrible comments when the pictures were posted on Facebook. Initially, we responded to some of the comments, but then the pictures went viral and it was overwhelming to have to respond to trolls. So we decided to ignore it," Lakshmi said.
Though the couple's family had no issues with the photoshoot, their relatives and neighbours did complaint to them about the pics. The couple said that they were even advised to keep such acts in 'private'.
Well, the couple is strong that they won't take down the pictures from Facebook.
