Kerala bans trekking following Theni forest fire

The massive forest fire which broke out in Korangani region causing the loss of 9 lives have brough shock and disappointment to one and all. While many important members from the political fraternity have been expressing their condolences to the related family, the Kerala government has went a step further.

Kerala has issued a temporary ban for trekking activities in the region after the Korangani tragedy. The Minister for Tourism Kadakampilly Surendran has stated that no trekking activities will be entertained in Kerala Forest areas until the ban was revoked. The state’s forest department has also directed its wildlife Wardens to ensure the same in addition to suggesting precautionary measures to avert wild fires.
