Manual scavenging is one of the foremost societal evils that have been plaguing our country. Even though it is illegal in the country, you cannot but witness scores of workers engaged in the dehumanising work. However, a startup from Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram came up with with an invention of a robot ‘Bandicoot’ to replace humans to clear manholes and sewage lines.
Kamal Haasan , who recently made his political plunge with Makkal Needhi Maiam seems to be mighty impressed with this innovation that he took to his social page to express his sentiments towards the same. Stating his congrats to Kerala, the actor also opined that it was the first step towards dignity to co-human beings.
No wonder the folks at Gen Robotics. the founding team of the robot, are elated by Kamal's statements. In addition to this the team had also received commendations from Kerala's Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
It is also worth mentioning here that the Kerala Water Authority has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Kerala Start-Up Mission to materialize the concept.
The robot to clean human refuse is India's first step towards diginity to co- human beings. Congrats Kerala.
