The debutant Santosh son of producer Anekal Balraj has to improve in his physique and looks to suit the roles which he is going to take up in the coming films. He has the ease in acting and dialogue delivery is OK.

'Kempa' is an action extravaganza with revenge saga, gang war and some lovely tunes set in the good backdrop. Debutant director Jagadish has left strong promises that he is here to stay in Kannada cinema. The screenplay and shots he has executed in the first venture are impressive. The innocence, struggle, inevitability, repenting, correcting in life all tucked in the protagonist role with due prominence to police the director has carved a good screenplay first.

Kempa (Santosh) living with his sister Pragna in the Gopinaththam village faces the most obnoxious situation when his sister is killed by STF forces that come to stay in his village to catch forest fugitive Veerappan. Knowing the culprits of his sister death Kempa kills three of STF forces and run away from his home town. Kempa is right in his perspective and in the big bad city his daring nature earns him a big place in the underworld because he kills Reddy the famous south Indian don. The catapulting of his position Kempa is not interested in such crown but he is forced to stay. In the process he is liked by Bindhu (Tanushika). Kempa is afraid to fall in love with Bindhu because whatever he liked in his life he did not get his so far. After a deep thought and discussion Kempa falls in love with Bindhu. It is bed of roses for the underworld kingpin to live with Bindhu who is the daughter of a prostitute played by Shakeela. The police play havoc in the life of Kempa. Kempa's right hand Shinde attacks would be couple and run away. Kempa recovering from serious bullet hits is found in Mysore as a corporation worker. It is in this place Kempa finds the mentally upset Bindhu in a pregnant situation as a beggar. Respecting the pure love Kempa takes care of Bindhu.

The lanky youngster Santosh has worked hard in his first film. He has to urgently contact the hair stylist. Eat well to get kilograms of flesh in to his bony physique. Tanushika is absorbing in her debut. Avinash plays the easy role effectively.

Gurukiran has lent two good tunes. Cinematography by Shanker and editing deserved to be better.

Scoring 6/10
