With several States resorting to the route of global tenders to procure coronavirus vaccines, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has voiced his opinion against the route. His State recenty committed itself to placing global tenders, but the AAP supremo seems to be having second thoughts if given a chance.
"Indian states left to compete/fight with each other in international market. UP fighting Maha, Maha fighting Orissa, Orissa fighting Delhi. Where is “India”? Portrays such a bad image of India. India, as one country, shud procure vaccines on behalf of all Indian states," Kejriwal questioned today.
He said that when we approach vaccine manufacturers and their countries as a one nation rather than individual states, our bargaining power would be much more.
Kejriwal urged the Indian government to use its diplomatic space to negotiate with other countries for vaccines.
It may be noted that both the Telugu States have expressed their willingness to join the global tenders process.
