It was speculated earlier that Samantha will play the lead role in the biopic of yesteryear actress Savitrhri. Later it was clarified that Samantha will be acting in the film but not as Savithri, but in a pivotal character through which the story will be narrated.

It was reported that the makers are in talks with several leading heroines of South India to portray the onscreen version of the legendary actress. Now sources reveal that Keerthy Suresh will be playing the lead role in this Tamil-Telugu bilingual to be directed by Nag Ashwin.

Keerthy is currently busy shooting for 'Thaana Serndha Koottam' with Suriya and she also plays the female lead in Pawan Kalyan's 25th film in Telugu. Her first release of the year will be 'Bairavaa' with Ilaythalapathy Vijay, scheduled to hit the screens for Pongal 2017.
