The Keerthy Suresh starrer 'Nadigaiyar Thilagam' dubbed from the Telugu original 'Mahanati' has won big at the Tamil Nadu box office as well as the critics who have unanimous praise for the artistes performances and detailed filmmaking. On our Tuesday Trivia column we take a look at some of the other films from the neighbouring state that have become massive hits here.
The 1989 Telugu film 'Ankusham' was a huge blockbuster in AP and the film was dubbed in Tamil as 'Ithuthandaa Police' starring Dr. Rajasekhar and Jeevitha which became an unprecedented super hit all over Tamil Nadu and the hero became very popular here.
In the year 1990 Vijayashanthi's 'Karthavyam' was dubbed as Vyjayanthi IPS in Tamil which became a massive blockbuster with family audiences enjoying the daredevlry of the heroine after which many of her films became hits in TN.
Almost a decade later Anushka made a roaring appearance in 'Arundati' which was well received by the Tamil audiences too who lapped up the supernatural elemants and the charm of the leading lady.
In 2012 S.S. Rajamouli and his father Vijayendra Prasad joined forces for 'Eega' which was titled 'Naan E' in Tamil and made all the right noises at the box office and establishing the director's name.
Three years later the same team came up with 'Baahubali' which not only was a huge hit in Tamil but took Indian cinema to the world stage. Its sequel 'Baahubali 2' also enjoyed a much bigger success.
