With the grand Pongal release Rajini Murugan` which has become a hot favourite of family audience, its heroine Keerthy Suresh who plays the Madurai girl Karthiga Devi and the love interest of the fast rising star Sivakarthikeyan in the film has stolen everyone`s heart. With Dhanush-Prabhu Solomon film and Sivakarthikeyan`s next film lined up in her kitty the girl is sure going to be the top contender for the favourite heroine of 2016.
In her exclusive Red Carpet interview to Indiaglitz, Keerthy shared various things and here we bring a brief version of what all she said us.
About Sivakarthikeyan
Siva is a wonderful co-actor. In my first two movies which were in Malayalam the characters were subtle and nothing very loud. So when I started Rajini Murugan`, being aloud and everything was very different to me. I did not understand. So the first four, five days I was just observing Siva and Soori anna and all those people, like how they deliver the dialogues and everything. And then afterwards I understood the character itself.
And Siva as an actor is a very good actor he is a very good co-actor and he helps a lot. He is straight forward. I finish a shot if he likes he would say it`s nice. If he doesn`t like it he would say you can do better and if he really doesn`t like it he would say it was bad. So he takes a lot of freedom on me and I like that a lot.
Working with PC Sreeram
We have just finished one song in the movie and we have not started shooting any scenes. I was so excited when I came to know that PC sir was the one who insisted to sign me for the film. I was so happy about that. After we started shooting he is a very good teacher. That`s when I started realizing how many mistakes I do in a shot. He keeps pinpointing them and he makes sure that I don`t do it again. But I am able to understand whatever he says. He likes the fact that I understand it and I don`t repeat the mistake again. And his appreciation is one thing which I really like about him.
Glamour roles
Whatever big movie I work in, ultimately my concern is my personality. I make sure that I keep it up. Someday I will get married and I should be able to watch my films with my children, mother-in-law and father-in-law. This is what my mother has said me. I should be able to watch it with my mom, dad, future husband or whoever.
My family is very conservative. My mom (actress Menakha) has never done any glamour roles. She has a girl-next door image. I would like to do that in my own way. In general I wear modern clothes and I will stick to those types that are something which I am comfortable.
Film with Dhanush and Prabhu Solomon
The film tentatively titled as Rail` happens in a train journey from Delhi to Chennai. I play the character Saroja, a touchup girl of a cinema heroine and Dhanush is a pantry worker in the train. There is a lot of romance and there are commercial elements. My role is deglammed and completely no makeup.
Costume designing
I have not been doing clothes for myself because I don`t have time to do that. I went to Scotland to learn designing, in a (student) exchange program for around six months. I did an internship in London for around two months and then I came back. So I don`t get time to do stuff for myself.
Education and stay in Chennai
I am staying in Chennai with my maternal grand-mom. I did up to 5th standard in Chennai and then I went to Trivandrum for the rest of my schooling. Then I came back to Chennai for college.
Tamil films over Malayalam Films
I did not leave Malayalam probably the industry left me. The thing is I got better and more offers in Tamil so I chose that. I have never wanted to leave Malayalam films. If I get a good movie I will definitely take it up in Malayalam as that`s where I started my career.
