In the recently announced 66th National Film Awards, actress Keerthy Suresh had won the national award for Best actress for her performance as yesteryear legendary actress Savitri in Telugu movie Mahanati, and the jury while announcing the award had said that she had given a wonderful performance in a young age.

In a recent interview mother and actress Menaka revealed how the day of award announcement went. She said that a lot of celebrities, media and politicians came to wish Keerthy, and stars like Vidya Balan, Vikram,Karthik, Chiranjeevi, Mohanlal, Dileep, Nani, Suresh Gopi, Saroja Devi had called and wished Keerthy while Vijay had sent an SMS congratulating her. Reportedly, Keerthy had 300 missed calls that day.

Menaka further said that for her Malayalam movie Oppol, it was expected that she will get the National award for best actress, but it was announced for another actress, and hence she had always wanted her daughter Keerthy Suresh not to be facing such disappointment and Keerthy used to tell Menaka that she will win national award and dedicate it to her. Now, Keerthy has achieved it and has dedicated her award to her mother Menaka, making her the happiest mother.
