The biggest tragedy of Keelugurram is that it could have been infinitely better. Because the story (at least the broad outline is interesting).
But a shambolic script and silly direction just puts the film in a quagmire. The production values are also a major let down. So when you come out of the theater you are actually happy as the agony has ended.
The story revolves around four youth who come together through happenstance. They also chance upon a kid in a forest area.
And that's when their problem starts.
Just as they want to unravel the kid's antecedents, a web of intrigue is also unwittingly unraveled. Some gangsters are also on the pursuit of the kid. The four youth, in the meanwhile, land themselves Rs.one crore that is actually set for the gangsters out to kill the kid.
The four youths also have their own love life and problems.
In the end, the youths sort out their personal lives and save the kid from the louts. Thrown into this pell-mell are the silly shenanigans of the comedians.
It is a plot that is more convoluted and interconnected than a bowl of noodles.
The film could have have been an absolute disaster were it not for the spirit and energy of the main actors. Rohit, Nakul, Balaaditya, Rajesh, Sivaji Raja are all competent. Swapna Madhuri, Tarun Roy (she shows enough glamour) Ravali and Shakeela make up the numbers on the distaff side.
Brahmanandam's comedy starts promisingly. But begins to grate quickly.
S A Rajkumar's music is not even mediocre. There is no technical gloss to the movie and the direction of Kodi Ramakrishna is only on paper.
No purpose or poise.
