Released in 1999, the sci-fi action entertainer Matrix starring Keanu Reeves, Carrie Anne Moss and Laurence Fishburne in lead roles and directed by The Wachowskis turned out to be a huge hit, leading to two more movies in the franchise, The Matrix reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions.

After 16 years, now the team is all set to reunite for the fourth part in the series, and it has been confirmed that Lana Wachowski, who created the franchise with her sister Lilly, will be back as the director. Matrix 4 will have Keanu Reeves and Carrie Anne Moss returning as Neo and Trinity.

Matrix 4 script is co-written by Wachowski and sci-fi novelists Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the release of the first Matrix movie, and this announcement would sure excite fans of the franchise. The Wachowskis made some flops like Speed Racer, Cloud Atlas and Jupiter Ascending in recent times while Keanu Reeves scored big recently with the superhit John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.
