KCRs scheme inspires Jharkhands BJP govt

KCR's famous Rythu Bandhu scheme has been one of the most-lauded pro-farmer policies in India. Several economists have endorsed it as the ideal way to assist farmers, especially in the circumstances where land records are systematic. The Rythu Bandhu scheme is believed to be a major reason for the success of TRS in Telangana.

Jharkhand's BJP government has announced a similar scheme. Chief Minister Raghubar Das has said that his government will give Rs 5000 to farmers having less than one acre land for Kharif crops every year. "This scheme will be named as Mukhya Mantri Krishi Ashirwad Yojana and will be introduced from 2019-20 Budget. Rs 2,250 crore will be spent in the scheme," he said.

"The new initiative has been taken to help farmers procure seeds, fertilisers and other requirements for agriculture purposes without depending on anybody," the CM adds.

Reacting to the welcome development, columnist Aashish Chandorkar says, "After Telangana, Jharkhand proposes an input support program for small and marginal farmers. Looks like this may be the way to go for all states before the Lok Sabha election campaign formally starts."
