Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday reportedly urged Narendra Modi not to restart passenger train services. "The restarting of passenger train services will inevitably lead to the movement of people across the country, thereby throwing up challenges with respect to contact-tracing and quarantining of suspects," he is reported to have said.
Expressing his views on the matter during Monday's video conference with the Prime Minister, KCR is learned to have cited the instance of Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai, among other major cities, as having a high number of cases. He, therefore, requested the Centre not to restart train services.
Andhra Pradesh CM Jaganmohan Reddy is reported to have made a request to the PM regarding the inter-state movement of people. "Issues thrown up by the inter-state movement should be resolved," he has been quoted as saying, adding that movement of people makes economic sense.
