K Chandrasekhar Rao has intensified his rhetoric against Narendra Modi of late. The Telangana Chief Minister has tried to project the Prime Minister as a disaster in a pre-GHMC poll press briefing.
In driving home his opinion that Modi's policies are ruining India's economy, the TRS supremo alleged that Bangladesh's GDP has already surpassed India's. "This is the progress we have made under Modi. Post this on Facebook. This is a matter of shame. Even a small country like Sri Lanka is better than India economically. If this Modi rule continues, even Nepal's GDP will overtake India's," KCR said.
What is the truth? Bangladesh is pegged by the IMF to surpass India only in terms of GDP PPP, not GDP. There is a world of difference between the two.
Meanwhile, in December, a national conclave will be held in Hyderabad to make a strong, united political statement against the BJP. Mamata Banerjee, MK Stalin and Akhilesh Yadav, among others, are rumoured to be attending the event under the aegis of KCR.
