On Monday, Telangana's Director of Public Health made it clear that there will be no lockdown and night curfew in the State under any circumstances. He refuted the fake news that the government will impose a lockdown as well as a night curfew.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's attitude against imposing restrictions to contain Covid-19 is good news for Tollywood, which is planning to release a handful of movies for Sankranthi. One State not imposing lockdown may not mean anything for a pan-India film like 'Radhe Shyam', but it matters a lot for 'Bangarraju', Rajasekhar's 'Shekar', 'Rowdy Boys', 'Hero', 'DJ Tillu' and '7 Days 6 Nights'.
Tollywood producers and distributors will welcome KCR's anti-lockdown mindset. If the experience during the second wave is anything to go by, Telangana will not impose the 50% occupancy norm anytime sooner either. The government will do it only if cases go up beyond a certain threshold. And it won't happen for another 3 weeks, hopefully.
In summation, Tollywood can heave a sigh of relief for now. Sankranthi will see some movie releases even if Andhra Pradesh goes for a 50% restriction.
