The Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy awards for this year have been announced to 15 achievers of Kannada filmdom. On the birthday of Kannada cinema 3rd March, the presentation event is taking place says KCA chief SV Rajendra Singh Babu. Last year KCA announced awards for 10 film personalities, this year it has increased it by five. The cash award of Rs.50000, shawl, garland and plaque will be given to the winners.

The event is taking place at Town Hall (Puttannachetty Hall) at 6 pm in the presence of Housing Minister M Krishnappa, former housing minister Dr Ambarish, Kannada and culture minister Umasri will inaugurate the event, MLC Dr Jayamala, Dr Bharathi Vishnuvardhana, V Ravichandran, NR Vishukumar, information department director, KFCC President Sa Ra Govindu will preside over the event. Archana Udupa team will shower the melodies of yesteryears in the cultural program.

Some of the top actors of yesteryears JK Srinivasamurthy, Smt Adavani Lakshmi Devi, MS Umesh, Doddanna, KV Raju, C Jayaram, Kumar Shettar, Pal Chandani, BK Sumithra, BL Venu, SV Srikanth, BV Radha, Smt Devi, NL Ramanna and Ram Shetty receive the honors.

The awards are instituted in memory of veterans like R Nagendra Rao, MV Rajamma, TN Balakrishna, Toogudeepa Srinivas, BR Panthulu, Shanker Singh D, B Jayamma, N Veeraswamy, GV Iyer, Hunusuru Krishnamurthy, BS Ranga, Pandari Bai, MP Shanker, Shanker Nag and KN Taylor.
