It was earlier announced that Amala Paul will be seen in the female lead for Rosshan Andrrews directorial 'Kayamkulam Kochunni' which has Nivin Pauly in the title role. The team had also released the actress' character sketch, which took social media by storm. 

But now, as per the latest report, the VIP actress has backed out from the project. According to reports, Amala Paul has been replaced by Kollywood actress Priya Anand, who made her Mollywood debut with the Prithviraj starrer 'Ezra'. However an official announcement from the team is awaited though. 

Scripted Bobby and Sanjay, the shooting of Kayamkulam Kochunni  is currently in progress at Ramadi village in Kerala-Karnataka border. Produced by Gokulam Gopalan, for Sree Gokulam Films, 'Kayamkulam Kochunni' will also have Angamaly Diaries fame Sarath Kumar and Kannada actress Priyanka Thimmesh in pivotal roles. 

Though there have been many versions of Kochunni's life stories, the upcoming venture will explore on how Kochunni turned out to be a rebel from a common man. The movie's music will be done by Kabali music director Santhosh Narayanan and sound designing by Baahubali sound designer Satheesh.
