Kayadu Lohar Opens Up About Her Role in Nani’s The Paradise: ‘Subbalakshmi Is a Very Different Character’

Natural Star Nani’s much-awaited pan-India period action entertainer The Paradise is gearing up for its worldwide theatrical release on September 24. Directed by Srikanth Odela and produced by Sudhakar Cherukuri under the SLV Cinemas banner, the film has already generated strong buzz with its songs, glimpses and teaser receiving an encouraging response from audiences.

Ahead of the film’s release, actress Kayadu Lohar, who plays the female lead, interacted with the media and shared several interesting details about her character, working with Nani, director Srikanth Odela and producer Sudhakar Cherukuri.

Kayadu Lohar on Her Character in The Paradise

Kayadu revealed that she plays Subbalakshmi, fondly called Subbu, in The Paradise. She described the character as one of the most different roles she has played so far and hinted that there are several surprises associated with her character.

“I play Subbalakshmi, and everyone calls her Subbu. There are many surprises in the character, and the audience should experience them on the big screen. She is Jadal’s love partner, but at the same time, she has her own journey, which is very different,” Kayadu said.

She added that the character offers considerable scope for performance and plays an important role in the story.

“This is a character with a lot of performance scope. It is also very crucial to the story. I don’t want to reveal too much about Subbu at this point. This role is very different from all the characters I have played so far. Being part of such a big project with Nani sir, Srikanth sir and Anirudh has been a wonderful experience,” she added.

How Kayadu Landed The Paradise

Speaking about how she came on board the project, Kayadu said director Srikanth Odela believed she would be suitable for the role after watching her previous work.

“After watching Dragon, Srikanth sir believed that I could pull off this character. He narrated the story to me, and later I went through a look test. That’s how I was selected. This is a very big project in my career,” she revealed.

Kayadu Praises Nani’s Dedication

Kayadu also spoke highly of her experience working with Nani. She praised the actor for his dedication to the physically demanding role and his transformation for the film.

“Nani sir appears with dreadlocks in this film. Performing and doing action sequences in that look is not easy. But he portrayed the character with tremendous confidence and did a wonderful job. He worked extremely hard for the film,” she said.

Describing Nani as a sweet and humble person, Kayadu added, “He is a very sweet and humble person. His journey is truly inspiring. I learned a lot from him. Working with him was a very happy experience.”

‘Srikanth Odela Is a Very Different Director’

Kayadu had high praise for director Srikanth Odela, describing him as a filmmaker with a unique vision and exceptional clarity.

“Srikanth sir is a very different director. Directors like him are very rare. He has a great vision and is very clear about what he wants. He gave me many challenges as an actor. I believe the hard work we all put into this film will definitely pay off,” she said.

Nani’s Character Is Her Favourite

When asked about her favourite character in The Paradise, Kayadu revealed that Nani’s character is her favourite. She also expressed excitement about the characters played by Mohan Babu and Raghav.

“Nani sir’s character is my favourite. Mohan Babu sir’s character and Raghav’s character are also very interesting. All these characters are going to create a strong impact in theatres,” she said.

Kayadu’s Dream Roles

Talking about the kind of roles she would like to take up in the future, Kayadu said she is particularly interested in action and sports-based films.

“I would love to do action films and sports-based films. I would also like to do a biopic if I get the opportunity,” she said.

‘I’m Lucky to Work Across Different Industries’

Kayadu has been working across multiple film industries and said she feels fortunate to receive love from audiences in different regions.

“I have received a lot of love from every industry. I feel very lucky in that regard. Getting opportunities to work across different industries and receiving the love of audiences is something I’m very happy about,” she said.

No Plans to Turn Director or Producer Yet

When asked whether she has plans to venture into direction or production, Kayadu said her current focus remains firmly on acting.

“For now, my entire focus is on acting,” she stated.

Kayadu Praises Producer Sudhakar Cherukuri

Kayadu also praised producer Sudhakar Cherukuri for his passion and commitment towards The Paradise.

“Sudhakar sir is a very sweet and genuine person. He has a lot of passion for cinema. I’m very happy to have worked in his production. The Paradise is a very big project, and he has produced it without compromising anywhere,” she said.

‘The Paradise Is a Big-Screen Experience’

Describing the film, Kayadu said The Paradise is an experience that should be watched in theatres.

“The Paradise is a film that needs to be experienced on the big screen. The story, action and music come together as a complete commercial package. It will give the audience an adrenaline rush,” she said.

Kayadu’s Upcoming Projects

Kayadu also revealed details about her upcoming projects. She said she is currently working on a film with Suriya and another project with acclaimed filmmaker Mari Selvaraj.

With The Paradise arriving in theatres on September 24, Kayadu Lohar is set to appear in a role that she describes as one of the most challenging and distinctive characters of her career.
