Eagle, an action-packed thriller directed by Karthik Ghattamaneni and starring Mass Raja Ravi Teja, is set to hit theaters on February 9, 2024. In a recent interview, Kavya Thapar, one of the film's leading ladies, shared her experiences working on the project.
How did you get involved in Eagle?
I was shooting for a Bollywood project in Mumbai when Karthik Ghattamaneni narrated the story to me. I immediately felt that the story was unique and decided to take on the role. Plus, the opportunity to star opposite Ravi Teja was too good to pass up.
What genre is Eagle, and what attracted you to it?
Eagle is a blend of action, suspense, mystery, and thrill, with international sensibilities. What really appealed to me, however, were the romantic elements. They are unique and will surely resonate with audiences.
What was it like working with Ravi Teja?
I'm a huge fan of Ravi Teja's personality. He is energetic, jovial, and incredibly supportive on set. Sharing screen presence with him was a memorable experience.
Tell us about your role in Eagle.
I play the character of Rachana, a woman with a clear goal in life: to make her family proud. As she embarks on her journey, she finds her confidence growing. Audiences won't see me in this role; they will only see Rachana. I am very satisfied with my performance, and I am grateful for the opportunity to work on such a well-written character. Sahadev (played by Ravi Teja) instills confidence in Rachana even though he isn't physically present in her life. Due to the nature of the story, the hero and I don't have a dance number together, but I hope to share the screen with Ravi Teja sir in a dance sequence in the future.
Do you relate to your character in real life?
A:In real life, I am an energetic person, while Rachana is more reserved. She is unsure of her actions and takes risks to achieve her goals. However, she remains positive and pursues her aspirations despite the challenges she faces.
How did you enjoy shooting for Eagle?
Eagle was a relatively easy film to shoot. I worked in Poland and London, and it felt like a vacation. I even brought my mom along! I had a lot of fun on and off set.
What was the best compliment you received for your performance?
Writer Mani told me, 'I did not see Kavya but Rachana on the screen.' That compliment from the writer made me incredibly happy. I hope I did justice to the character.
Are you fluent in Telugu?
I can understand Telugu, but I can't speak it. I've had the opportunity to work with senior actors like Ravi Teja sir and Vijay Antony sir, and I've been fortunate to have amazing co-stars. I'm a friendly person by nature, which helps me connect with my co-stars. Appreciation is the icing on the cake. My work ethic is simple: 'Give your best, forget the rest.' I thank God every day for the opportunities I've been given.
What kind of roles are you looking for in the future?
I'm open to all sorts of roles, even supporting roles, as long as I believe I can do justice to the character. Audiences won't believe me unless I am convinced of the strength of my character. I'm not a method actor; I don't stand in front of the mirror and rehearse my lines. I live in the moment and perform on the go.
Do you have a preferred genre?
I'm up for all genres. I've gained more experience now, so I feel more prepared. That said, every film, every script, and every team is different. Everyone brings something new, and there is always something new to learn.
What are your dream roles?
I would love to do a full-on mass action entertainer. I'm also drawn to supernatural thrillers.
How was it working with People Media Factory?
It was an honor to work under their banner. They elevated the film to international standards. I would love to work with them again in the future.
What are your upcoming projects?
I'm currently awaiting the release of Ooru Peru Bhairava Kona. I'm also working on Ram, Puri Jagannath's Double iSmart
