South Asian Games gold medallist Kavita Devi has officially signed a contract with the WWE, according to sources. The official Twitter handle of the WWE on ESPN announced this development early Sunday morning.
The powerlifter won hearts in the international wrestling circuit and at home by wearing a salwar kameez to the fighting ring; she paired it with a simple dupatta around her waist and black boots. Notably, she was the only Indian woman to compete in the Mae Young Classic in July this year, the first ever WWE tournament for women. Devi said it was a “privilege” in that tournament and hopes to become the first WWE women’s champion from India.
