Katiyabaaz
Vikramaditya Motwane’s Phantom Films is presenting ‘Katiyabaaz’, a renowned documentary directed by Deepti Kakkar and Fahad Mustafa. ‘Katiyabaaz’ has been screened at umpteenth film festivals and both the directors Farhad and Deepti have won umpteenth accolades for the film from all quarters. The film reported to have travelled to over 50 international film festivals.
‘Katiyabaaz’ is the story of electricity theft in Kanpur told through the eyes of two protagonists: Loha Singh, a katiyabaaz and Ritu Maheshwari, an IAS officer. It underlines how India looses crores of rupees every year due to the theft. ‘Katiyabaaz’ is an entertaining story based out of Kanpur but has a universal appeal.
Kanpur faces a lot of electrical cuts and the documentary talks about electricity theft by people who cannot afford electricity. However every person in every city of India will identify with this film. Told in an entertaining format, it tells the story from various perspectives.
