Farmers association hails Saravanan and his 'Kathukutti'

After the Delhi Tamil Sangam the Tamil Nadu Vivasayigal Sangam has also conducted a felicitation for director Saravanan and his team behind the critically acclaimed film 'Kathukutti'.
'Kathukutti' that released in early October after long struggles was well received by audience and critics. The film by a debutante director was highly appreicated for its portrayal of the issues concerning the farmers in and around the Tanjore district of Tamil Nadu and also the horrible effects of the Methane Exploration project in the Cauvery delta region. The Tamil Nadu Government banned the proposed Methane project within a few days after the release of the film.
The felicitation function organised by the farmers association was held in Thiruchitramabalam town of Tanjore district. Saravanan was accorded the title 'Mannin Iyakkunar' (Filmmaker of the Soil). Saravanan's parents. teachers and other representatives from his native village Punalvasal were also felicitated in the function.
In his speech Saravanan revealed that he himself belongs to a farmer family and he did agricultural jobs during school days.
