Actor Kathir has been known for his performances in movies like Madha Yaanai Koottam, Kirumi, Vikram Vedha and had given a superhit with Pariyerum Perumal directed by Mari Selvaraj and produced by Pa Ranjith, which gave him a good recognition.

After playing Vijay's friend in Atlee's Bigil and playing lead role in another sports based movie Jada, now Kathir has been signed to act in a superhit remake. As per reports Kathir will be seen playing the lead role in the Tamil remake of 2019 Malayalam superhit Ishq.

Directed by Anuraj Manohar, Ishq had Shane Nigam and Kalidas heroine Ann Sheetal in lead roles and was a superhit movie, and the Tamil version will be directed by Shiv Mohaa who had previously directed Zero starring Ashwin and Sshivada. Ishq remake will be produced by Eagle Eye productions which produced Petromax.
