Kathir may have missed out on the National Award for Best Actor for his performance in 'Pariyerum Perumal' but he got the Promising Young Star Award at the India Retail Excellence Awards getting the trophy from Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan. Kathir speaking to newsmen at the event stated that he is playing the character of the younger brother of Thalapathy Vijay in 'Bigil' but refused to go any further and asked fans to wait for the Diwali release to know more.

'Bigil' directed by Atlee and produced by AGS Entertainment has music by A.R. Rahman, cinematography by G.K. Vishnu, production design by T. Muthuraj and editing by Ruben. Vijay, Nayanthara, Kathir, Indhuja, Yogi Babu, Vivek, Jackie Shroff and several others form the rest of the starcast.
