Katha Parayumpol
Most of the young directors who hit big time in Mollywood were introduced through Mammootty films. Be it with Joemon, Blessy, Amal Neerad or Anwar Rasheed, all of them had hit the major league with the hits that they directed with the super star. For this Christmas, another new face, M Mohanan, is turning independent director with another Mammootty starer- 'Kadha Parayumbhol'.
The basic premise of the story is all about friendship - that too a rare one, between a village barber and the reigning super star of Malayalam cinema. Sreenivasan who also scripts the movie appear in the lead as Balan, the village barber while Mammootty is playing superstar Ashok Raj. The film is all about childhood friendship between Ashok Raj and Balan who studied together in the same school. After many years Ashok Raj comes to Melukaavu Village, where Balan runs the shop, for the shooting of a film, within a few days grape vine spreads far and wide about the thick friendship between them.
Balan becomes the most noted and talked about man in the village, mostly due to the snobs about this rare friendship. People began to do every favor including monetary support for him and his family and Balan began to climb the ladder of fortunes in no time. But the fact remained that Balan has never disclosed this closeness with the star, to any one in the village. The question then remained how people get to know about their intimacy. The film goes on to tell how these stories about companionship can turn into a menace for quite living village man.
With the new film produced in the banner of Lumiere Cinema, actor Mukesh turns producer for the first time. The actor was very particular that he wants a script by Sreenivasan, who introduced his brother-in-law Mohan, a long time associate of Sathyan Anthikad to him, to do the flick. Innocent plays Ashok Raj 's, personal assistant and cook in the film, while Mukesh appear as a parallel college teacher. Meena plays Sreenivasan's wife in the film, who makes a living out of selling goat's milk. Jagadeesh, Salim Kumar, Jagathy, K.P.A.C Lalitha, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Sadiq and Mamukkoyya also appear in other important roles in this humorous entertainer.
P. Sukumaran wields the camera of the film while M.Jayachandran gives music to the songs penned by Anil Panachooran and Gireesh Puthencherry. Ranjan Abraham does the editing while Gokul Das is the art director of the movie. The final schedule of the film is on at Thodupuzha. Katha Prayumpol is Mammootty's Christmas release, which is brought to theatres by Seven Arts.
